Hi Lion! But where's my mane?

Shaving the baby's hair in many different traditions is a very symbolic ritual. When I did SEAsian Studies and Hinduism in Uni, I learnt that one's hair is associated with connections to the past. so, babies are given a clean shave of the crown to signify the start of a clean slate in this lifetime. We shaved our little one more out of sheer convenience and practicality. Also, it is said that this can help to stimulate better growth for crowning glory.
